Lemons on Friday by Mattie Jackson Selecman
Lemons on Friday is written by Mattie Jackson Selecman, daughter of musician Alan Jackson. She tells her story of the loss of her husband. After suffering a traumatic brain injury, Mattie’s husband passed away, just three weeks before celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
Mattie shares her story with honesty and vulnerability. She shares her deep grief and struggles while also sharing the hope that she had throughout the hardships. She asked God to not let her pain go to waste and this book is proof of how God is using her pain to help others.
What I Loved: I read this book a few years back when I was experiencing grief and heartache. The way that Mattie shared about her grief made me feel like I was not alone and also gave me practical advice to handling grief while keeping my faith strong. At the end of the book Mattie provides guided prayer prompts that she used to stay connected to God and strong in her faith.
What I Didn’t Love: nothing! I would highly recommend this book!
